Education System in Dar Es Salaam
The education system in Tanzania is taken seriously as the country realizes its importance to future growth. The Tanzanian government understands through quality education results in a competitive economy. Children begin school at age 5.
The education system includes:
- 7 years of primary school
- 4 years of secondary school
- 2 years of advanced level
- 3 years of college
At the completion of each educational level, students must pass exams in order to continue to the next grade. There are 520 primary and secondary schools throughout Tanzania. On average, there are 70 students in one classroom. In overcrowded classrooms, students do not have desks or chairs.
